Savannah Dentist Dr. Ryan Reeves looks down at some equipment in his office

As the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic changes our daily schedules and routines over the next few weeks, the Beyond Exceptional Dentistry team is dedicated to sharing important information about how we are protecting our patients and staff.

What should I know about the pandemic and how can I protect myself?

The CDC and government officials have shared that panic over the pandemic is not necessary. Remaining calm and continuing good hygiene and healthy practices like regularly scheduled exercise regimes, getting a healthy dose of fresh air, sunshine and dental and physical well-being appointments are all recommended for those who are not “at-risk,” or generally healthy individuals.

Should I cancel my appointment during the coronavirus pandemic?

No, it is not necessary to cancel your dental appointment unless you are ill or experiencing symptoms of the COVID-19 virus. The CDC is warning citizens of the virus, just as it also warns of the other serious conditions of daily like gum disease. Did you know there are strong connections between gum health and overall health, including the immune system’s ability to fight infections? Keeping regularly scheduled dental appointments could decrease your risk of stroke, heart disease, diabetes, and cognitive decline. Canceling your appointment can escalate your condition, creating additional health concerns. It is important you maintain your oral health and keep your dental appointment as long as you are well and not exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or other illnesses.

How is Beyond Exceptional Dentistry protecting its patients and staff during the COVID-19 outbreak?

Our team has been fully trained in OSHA standards for regular sanitization and sterilization of the patient rooms, equipment, and tools used during appointments. Your professional team keeps your overall health and safety a top priority now and throughout every day in our practice. Between patient appointments, the rooms are disinfected with EPA-approved chemicals that kill bacteria, viruses, and blood-borne pathogens. This is a necessary disinfecting measure that we have practiced since before the COVID-19 outbreak. In addition, every team member is required to adhere to the CDC’s protocol of hand hygiene before and after working with each patient to reduce contamination.

Does Beyond Exceptional Dentistry offer services that will help reduce my risk of infection after procedures?

Yes, since we are passionate about our patients achieving and maintaining the healthiest smiles possible, we also offer a holistic dentistry treatment known as Ozone therapy during all regular dental exams and cleanings. Ozone therapy is now actively used in all of our dental procedures to help our patients improve their oral health. Ozone therapy is a treatment we offer that is simple to give, minimally invasive, kills disease and allows the body to heal itself. With this highly effective approach to preventive dentistry, patients can prevent more cavities and dental problems from occurring. Giving our patients access to this holistic approach of using the body’s natural healing abilities improves dental health.
