If you are considering a nonsurgical facelift, it’s important to enter the procedure with a good sense of what you can expect. Having reasonable expectations will help you make better decisions about what’s the right procedure for you.
Here are some guidelines about what you can expect from your nonsurgical facelift procedure.
Nonsurgical Facelift Results
What can you reasonably expect from a nonsurgical facelift? You can expect:
- Younger appearance
- Maintain your facial appearance
- Beautiful smile
- Relief from bite problems like TMJ
A nonsurgical facelift uses cosmetic dentistry to reshape your teeth and restore them to their youthful facial proportions. This helps you look younger, as well as the impact of having more youthful looking teeth. You should not, however, say, I want to look X years younger, because no one can guarantee a specific amount of rejuvenation, no matter the procedure.
Another reasonable expectation is that you’ll still look like you. Unlike a surgical facelift where your face will be cut and different aspects repositioned, in a nonsurgical facelift, we’re just working with your teeth–your face will be as it was.
And, of course, when we perform a nonsurgical facelift, we’ll give you a beautiful smile. Crooked teeth, gapped teeth, chipped teeth, broken teeth, discolored teeth, even missing teeth will all be a thing of the past. You’ll have a beautiful smile, which will also help you look younger.
While we’re working with your teeth, we will talk to you about symptoms that may be related to temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ), We will also analyze your bite and determine the optimal bite position. The optimal position for your bite is also one that helps you look younger.
Nonsurgical Facelift Side Effects
As magical as it may seem, a nonsurgical facelift is actually a medical procedure, and, like all medical procedures, there are some side effects we have to consider, such as:
- Two appointments required
- No time off work
- Minor discomfort and sensitivity
While a surgical facelift can be completed in a single visit, a nonsurgical facelift requires two appointments, spaced less than a month apart. However, other than the appointments themselves, there is no need to take any time off from work. You will be able to go back to work the day after each of your procedures, possibly even that day, depending on the procedure.
While you won’t experience major discomfort as you would with a surgical facelift, you will experience minor discomfort and sensitivity related to your nonsurgical facelift. This is typically controllable with over-the-counter pain medications, but it might be sufficient discomfort that you might avoid foods that cause sensitivity.
